About Gail Black

As an artist, I concern myself with the natural world, its shapes, colors, and textures. Everyday scenes attract me. With my work, I hope to encourage the viewer to slow down and reflect on their own memories, experiences and feelings.  My subjects and media are varied, but in each work, my goal is to reach out to the viewer.

My work has been influenced by living in the Carolinas, where I can experience the mountains and coast as well as rural and urban areas. I have been fortunate to study with amazing teachers both locally and by traveling to workshops, including a semester as a resident artist at Braitman Studio in Charlotte NC. I also value my time spent at Springmaid Watermedia Workshops where I studied with many talented instructors including Linda Baker, Mark Mehaffey and Frank Webb.

I hope you enjoy viewing my work here. Please feel free to contact me for further information and availability.
